petty petty me
WARNING: bitter rant ahead!! please skip this paragraph and head to the green if you don't want to read about my unfounded crankiness!! lol.

i haven't blogged or done a digipage in a week, partly because i feel uninspired, and partly because i'm feeling a bit bitter. i had explained why here, but i don't want to offend anyone and make them think i'm a certain way when i'm not, if that makes sense. bah, i'm just (temporarily) bitter about a few things right now, and i think turning my PS off and taking a break is what i've needed. not sure when i'll get back, but soon i'm sure.

in better news...

i got a new scanner!! so pleased. it's an Epson 3490, and it looks great. it's still in the box (haven't "freed" it yet) but i'm excited to start scanning again. :)

in great news...

mercy stayed in nursery through ALL of Relief Society and Sunday School!!!!! ::woohoo:: they said that she cried for about a minute, realised the other kids were playing, and started playing too. :) that's my nugget!! now, if she could've behaved for Sacrament, that would've been nice. lol!! porter lasted through RS, and part of Sunday School, before deciding it was milk time. he stayed on my visiting teacher's lap for Sacrament while i chased after mercy, so that was nice.

my mum's coming to visit on thursday, for just over a week!!! ~*~YAYAYAY~*~ i'm so so happy. we're going to get the kidlets easter pictures taken on friday, their first pro pics together. can you believe i haven't had any taken yet?! bad mummy. poor neglected porter. of course i'll have pro pics of him taken to mark 6 months, which is next month. EEPS. who told him to get older so fast!! little love that he is. i think tomorrow (today?) we're going to try him with solids! a little rice cereal. i think he's ready, he watches me feed mercy her jello smoothies, watching the spoon go back and forth, and smacks his gums together. LOL.

the Daniel Powter CD drops today!!!!!! yay! can't wait to get it!

okay, that's all from me for now. :)

monday monday (dah daaah dah dah dah dah)... lol.

great weekend, watched General Conference. so so so great. loved the talks, especially Robert D. Hales' talk. really felt like it was spoken straight to me. i can't wait for the Ensign to come out so i can read the talks and go over them again!

saturday was a rainy day, poured from about noon til 6ish. it looked so cool out though. mercy was standing on her chair, looking out the window, and i had to snap some pics of it. this one came out and i knew what i wanted to do with it:

the words are the lyrics to A Child's Prayer, by Janice Kapp Perry, one of my favorite Primary songs. The MoTab sings it on their "Love Is Spoken Here" CD, and it makes me tear up everytime i hear it. *sniffle* the words to the whole song are:

Night time, quiet time,
Loved one gather at day's end.
I hold them close, I help them know
That God will always be their friend.
Then just before I say goodnight
My little ones kneel by my chair
I close my eyes, I dim the lights
And listen to this simple prayer:

Heavenly Father, are you really there?
And do you hear and answer ev'ry child's prayer?
Some say that heaven is far away,
But I feel it close around me as I pray.

Heavenly Father, I remember now
Something that Jesus told disciples long ago,
"Suffer the children to come to me."
Father, in prayer I'm coming now to thee.

Pray, He is there. Speak, He is list'ning.
You are His child, His love now surrounds you.
He hears your prayer, He loves the children.
Of such is the kingdom, the Kingdom of heav'n.

Heavenly Father, are you really there?
He hears and answers every child's prayer.
Please hear my prayer.

geez, even typing the words out makes me tear up. lol.

okay that's all from me for now. enough!

woo hoo!! i think i may be starting to understand this HTML stuff!!! okay, not really, but i figured out how to add the Daniel Powter video thingy at the side, and shrink it a bit. this is my song of the week, freaking LOOOVE it. gotta see if i can talk cj into getting it when it comes out on {april 11th} . perfect timing for easter!!! woo!
Credits: pp-Mari K from TDC's Cherry Blossoms kit in dezine, stitches(border and edges)-Shabby Princess (Bluebell Road and Splendid kits), staple-Fee Jardine's Chocolate Cupcake kit, prongs-Christine Smith's Basic Blues kit

i wanted a way to remember the little things that i love at this age, and this was the perfect way. it's a combo scraplift of Mary MacAskill's Anatomy Of A Pug and Donna Downey's Did You Know... pages in Simple Scrapbooks march/april issue.

mercy's on a run today; she's been climbing in and out of her new favorite *spot*, the cabinet that the scanner used to be in at my desk. she's storing her Little People zoo animals in there, and hiding in there herself. just now she got stuck getting out, so i helped her get her leg unstuck, and she proceeded to walk away backwards, then turned around, ran to her little chair, climbed onto it and started laughing at something outside the window. i love this kid. she's also discovered how fun it is to cover her head with a blanket and run around. yes, she's gone face first into a wall or two, but she thinks it's the funniest thing, and, honestly, i kinda agree. lol.

porter's finally starting to take a binkie, whew. i'm not trying to force it on him, but he seems to have a strong suck urge, like mercy did, and i think a binkie would help him. especially when he wants to sleep while nursing, he's obviously not hungry, he just wants the comfort of it. does that make sense? anyways, he's refused binkies until yesterday, when we did some spring cleaning in our bedroom, sorting through clothes, etc. i came across one of his many rejected binkies, and popped it in his mouth just to see if he'd take it, and he did! yay!

watched Survivor last night. so disappointed in it. i cannot stand shane (is that his name?), he soooo needs to go. cocky jerk. ugh, not getting into it. LOL. DOND is on tonight, it's my favorite show lately. :D

this weekend is General Conference (LDS semi-yearly big meeting, basically) and just in time. i really need a spiritual lift right now, there's so many things i feel like i could be doing more or better, and it gets really overwhelming sometimes. i love GC because it just lifts me up and helps me to remember who i am and what i stand for, if that makes sense. hopefully it'll be sunny, because i'd love to walk to Temple Square and listen to the talks either tomorrow or on sunday. we'll see i guess!

spring... hah! it looks like a barren brown wasteland out there. {tee hee} seriously though, it's brown out there right now. there's a few patches of green here and there, but from our 9th floor apartment, the patches are hidden by the brown brown trees. sigh. doesn't help that we had a snowstorm come through a few days ago. the snow's melted except for on the mountains, which makes for beautiful scenery when out and about. but i'm ready for SPRING HERE!!!!!

and to make matters worse, my scanner just bit the dust. boo. it was 2.5 years old, but i didn't use it very often at all, which makes me think that it's the hardware that sucks. so i'm not sure i'll be looking at any HP scanners to replace it. BOOOOOO. so if anyone is reading this and has suggestions for a good quality, not too pricey scanner, pleeeeeeeeeeease let me know. please.

well, church was interesting. mercy's first time in nursery, and it did not go well. :( she went in fine, and started playing right away, not even noticing me, so i left. about 10-15 minutes later a lady came and asked if i had dropped off a little girl in a hot pink dress in nursery. i said yes, and she told me that she was upset and i was needed. upset was not even the WORD. hysterical, yes. so i calmed her down and left again, but i could hear bouts of crying every so often. porter started fussing in his carseat, so i took him out and was walking the halls. then i made a bad choice. it was in between classes so i asked my visiting teacher to hold porter so i could check on mercy. ooooh, bad bad choice. she was somewhat calm before i went in, and then all heck broke loose. bad, bad, bad choice. when i finally got out of there porter was fussing, so i took him to nurse and he fell asleep, but i could hear mercy crying the rest of the time. poor nugget. i got her at the end of sunday school, and she was still so upset, but calmed down when we left the nursery, and during sacrament she was happy as a clam. singing, talking, yelling, laughing... my normal little angel face. porter started fussing towards the end of sacrament, so i stood at the back while my visiting teacher stayed with mercy in the pew. i watched her sitting there, this little white blonde head barely showing over the top of the pew, surrounded by all these adults, my little girl. and then she turned around, looking for me. she saw me, smiled, and turned back around to keep eating her cookie. and i knew she was growing up much too fast for me.
